Description
Adoption File #HW-010 · Missing Sock Crew · Meme Wing
Origin: A group chat that stopped replying in 2021 · Status: Crew, solo, side-eye permanently engaged · Peak fame: every awkward silence on Earth, briefly
There was a year — maybe two — when he was everywhere.
Every wedding toast that went too long. Every boss who said “let’s circle back.” Every family dinner after someone mentioned politics. Every moment two people realized they had made a mistake in the same room at the same time. He was the face of discomfort. He was the patron saint of yikes. He was in your phone, your cousin’s Facebook, your coworker’s Slack, and a group text you muted but never left.
He did not ask for fame. Fame found him the way fame finds all puppets: suddenly, loudly, and without a retirement plan.
Then the algorithm moved on. New memes arrived. The group chat went quiet. The reactions stopped coming. The screenshots stopped circulating. One day someone cleared phone storage and he was the first thing to go — not with malice, just with the casual violence of “storage almost full.”
Now he lives here. Brown fleece. Round eyes still aimed slightly to the left, as if watching someone disappoint God in real time. A muzzle that remembers being the punchline. Ears that used to mean “we both heard that” and now mean nothing to anyone under twenty-three.
He is not angry. He is tired. He has seen every cringe humanity produced between 2018 and 2021 and he cannot unsee it. He gave us a vocabulary for secondhand embarrassment and we replaced him with a dancing hot dog.
Not recommended for: people who still send him ironically (let him rest), anyone hoping for a comeback tour, influencers, or group chats that are only kept alive out of guilt.
Adoption note: Sad. Soft. Formerly viral. Currently a drawer. Fame to rags is still a story. He just wishes someone would read it.
